Work history

  1. 03/2025 – 08/2026

    Instashop (Delivery Hero Group)

    Full-Stack Software Engineer

    A grocery and retail delivery app in the UAE and Egypt, with a catalogue of 3M+ active products and 82k+ daily orders. One of 85 engineers.

    • Spent my first months as a firefighter, fixing bugs and production issues across every domain of the app, before moving to the product team for orders and catalogue management.
    • Worked on the retailers' admin panel, where partner stores update their own prices, and on the internal tools stakeholders use to follow orders, with third-party API integrations.
    • Helped build an LLM-powered workflow that answers the marketing team's analytics questions and helps engineers look into specific orders, logs and monitoring in natural language instead of hand-written queries, with LLM tracing and evals.
    • Took part in redesigning AWS Lambda workflows in a serverless architecture, cutting database load and cloud costs, with Kibana and CloudWatch alerts to stop duplicate processing on retries.
  2. 08/2023 – 12/2024

    Convert Group

    Full-Stack Software Engineer

    An AI-powered data platform where retailers such as Carrefour and Ahold share sales and customer insights with brands including L'Oréal, Unilever and Bayer, across 11 countries. One of 25 engineers in a 95-person international company.

    • Led the migration of the core application to Angular 16 (standalone components, Signals, NGXS, SSR), for 30% faster rendering and a 40% smaller production bundle.
    • Owned testing end to end: unit tests with Jasmine and Karma, E2E tests with Cypress, up to 95% coverage, which sharply cut regressions in production.
    • Worked with the data science team to integrate AI-powered analytics and LLM agentic workflows into the brand and retailer dashboards.
  3. 02/2022 – 09/2023

    Smart Up / Agora AI

    Software Developer

    A two-sided grocery platform on a Python and Django backend: shoppers compared prices across supermarkets, and FMCG brands paid to promote their products in the app.

    • Built the brands' admin panel in Angular, where they set up and ran their advertising campaigns.
    • Developed the consumer app in Flutter: shopping lists, price comparison across supermarkets and voice-driven product search.
    • Ran the automatic product categorisation in Python with spaCy NER models, and mentored two international interns through the full workflow, from data scraping to categorisation, saving 20+ hours of manual work a week.
  4. 01/2021 – 02/2022

    Freelance

    Frontend Software Engineer

    Three frontend projects in React and Next.js, backed by Firebase (NoSQL):

    • Developed an internationally recognised taekwondo club's website, which grew youth participation by 23% year over year.
    • Launched a site for a lab at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Democritus University of Thrace, bringing together announcements, the study programme, faculty and publications.
    • Translated a web3 project's Figma design into a working landing page.
